What should you look for when you need an attorney?
EXPERIENCE:
How many years has this attorney been practicing law?
This is important. Why? Because with years of experience comes a greater chance that he or she has successfully handled a case like yours. Check qualifications, experiences and background of the attorney you are thinking about hiring. Type the attorney’s name into google.com and do a little research of your own.
Stephen and Lorri King each have over 25 years of experience in successfully practicing many areas of law. They have handled a wide range of legal issues including mediation, family law, criminal law, personal injury law, worker’s compensation, general litigation, municipal law, estate planning, probate law, real estate law and business law. Chances are they have successfully worked on a case very similar to yours.
BIG FIRM or SMALL FIRM?
Is the attorney part of a big firm, a small firm or is he or she practicing on their own?
Another important question. Simply because the attorney works in a large firm doesn’t mean he or she is more capable. And conversely, if the lawyer practices on his or her own, it doesn’t mean that he or she is not capable of handling your case successfully.

How will I know what’s happening, how long things will take or how much it will cost?
After an initial consultation with you, we’ll be able to give you a general idea of what to expect. Without knowing all of the facts of your case, reviewing your records and anticipating every possible situation, it would be impossible for us to provide an exact quote of what fees you will be charged. However, you should feel free to ask what charges would normally be incurred in a case similar to yours. You can also ask to be kept advised of charges at any stage in your representation.
Will my attorney and his or her staff stay in touch with me and update me on the progress of my case?…And if I have a quick question, who do I call?

Can I ask that we correspond by email or does everything have to be in writing?
And yes, many of our clients prefer to correspond via email or fax. We’re more than happy to meet those needs as well.

While our web site isn’t going to answer every question you might have, we’re hopeful that it will provide answers to at least some of them. You should always feel free to ask questions and you should expect accessibility from your attorney.
